mother advice onlineJust like every other interest group around, mothers have a large and thriving presence online.  The internet medium is a great way for people of similar interests or backgrounds to get together 'virtually' as it enables discussion, support, and a general feeling of community.  This is incredibly important for any group, but perhaps more so for mums who may feel isolated, overwhelmed or confused by the challenges that motherhood throws up on a regular basis.  The internet also allows mothers to share tips and tricks, ask for advice or guidance, and laugh together over the sweet and often quite heart-warming things our children say and do.  Much like you would turn to your own mother, sister, or best friend for advice; you can also rely upon the online community of mums to be there whenever you need a helping hand or comforting word.

The internet also provides an opportunity for mothers with particular problems or concerns to find others with similar worries – common topics of discussion include allergies, illnesses, disabilities, bullying, emotional and physical development, and integration.  One of the advantages is that you can remain as anonymous as you want or feel is necessary – but most mothers relish the opportunity to openly share their challenges and triumphs with other mums all over the globe.  From forums to blogs, websites to chat rooms, informative guides to informal advice giving sites, the online community of mums couldn't be stronger – with the emphasis on inclusion, not exclusion.
